Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components and lab structures tailored for modern educational environments
Create detailed 2D/3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, education, and manufacturing to translate functional needs into practical designs
Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on product requirements and constraints
Prototype, test, and iterate designs to ensure structural integrity, usability, and manufacturability
Optimize designs for cost-efficiency, durability, and scalability
Liaise with vendors and fabricators to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications
Maintain and document design revisions, BOMs, and project files meticulously
Stay current with industry trends, materials innovation, and new manufacturing technologies
Key Requirements
Strong conceptual thinking and an eye for functional, user-centered design
Proficiency in SolidWorks; familiarity with AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or other tools is a plus
Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM principles
Solid knowledge of materials (metals, polymers, composites) and relevant manufacturing processes (sheet metal, welding, machining, 3D printing, etc.)
Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and engineering standards
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Master’s degree (M.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management (IEM), or related field
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably involving product development or manufacturing
